Prospective Graduate Students

Those interested in working with Dr. Gordon for their graduate studies are encouraged to examine this site and read lab members’ recent papers. The best time to contact Dr. Gordon to inquire if he is accepting new students is October or November for admission the next fall.

Lab Manager

The LCB lab usually has a part-time lab manager for each academic year. In addition to various administrative tasks, the lab manager hires, trains, and manages the undergraduate research assistants; recruits, schedules, and runs participants; and manages and edits lab and IRB documents. The lab manager is usually hired during the summer. See Careers at Carolina to search for open positions.

Work Study Research Assistants

Undergraduate research assistants (RAs) eligible for Work-Study at UNC are hired at the beginning of fall semester, and if needed, at the beginning of spring semester. RAs gain hands-on research experience by testing participants and working with eye trackers and possibly EEGs. Additional responsibilities include managing and pre-processing data. Opportunities are also available for students with computer programming experience. See the Work Study website for more information. Jobs are listed under On Campus Work-Study Program -> Research Assistance -> Psychology.

Study Participation

Students seeking research participation credit for their psychology classes should search for opportunities in the Psychology Research Participant Pool. For students and community members interested in paid research participant opportunities (particularly for EEG studies), email unclcb@unc.edu.
